    Chocolate Almond Smoothie

I start craving chocolate while I'm still finishing dinner.

    Chocolate Almond Smoothie | www.hummusapien.com

Like the second I put my fork down. Maybe even a few before. Savory to sweet, just like that. It's clockwork.

But I don't have the patience to wait for the oven to preheat or the willpower to wash two mixing bowls. So what's a lazy chocoholic to do? Whip out the my blender, find every derivative of chocolate in the pantry, and blend them into something cold, creamy and choctastical.

Enter this smoothie. It's easy. Easy as breeze! Chocolate Almond Breeze, to be exact. Do you get it?!

    Chocolate Almond Smoothie | www.hummusapien.com

Even though I drink a smoothie (or eat it in a bowl) for breakfast every morning, I often have one as a little night cap as well. That's right---I double dip. I'd rather drink a chocolatey bevvie made with fruit, cacao, and almond milk than go to town on a bunch of cookies or cake or donuts. Not that I don't do that. We ALL do that. Balance, my frands.

But when you craving chocolate on a daily (hourly?) basis, you've gotta find something healthier to turn to than salted dark chocolate potato chips. Holy cravings.

Plus, since it's summa summa time, I pretty much always want really cold things.

I'm all about the almond extract in this recipe for that pop of flavah flave (I used this one), but it wouldn't be the end of the world if you left it out. Swap it for vanilla extract if that's all you have on hand.

I also think some chocolate coconut milk ice cream would be DIVINE in this smoothie. Milkshake anyone?!

Summer is all about easy. Does any one else find themselves cooking way less in this warm weather? No shame. It is always acceptable to frolick in the pool in your new Target polka dot bikini when you "should" be roasting sweet taters.

Pack up your pool bag, sip on this dose of superfoods, and leave the cooking for a rainy day. Hashtag YOLO.
