It's hard not to fall in love with Todos Santos' bohemian spirit, vibrant farm-to-table food scene, and laid back charm. Compared to bustling Los Cabos, Todos feels more authentically Baja--artsy, historic, a little rugged, and rich with culture. If good tacos and mezcal margs are your travel love language, look no further than magical Todos Santos, Mexico!

I visited with my friend Hanna in early May and we enjoyed sunny and 75 degree temps the whole time! The weather is 5-10 degrees cooler in Todos vs Cabo, which was so ideal for us.

To me, this is the ideal place for a romantic getaway or long weekend girls trip. We're so lucky it's a direct 3 hour flight from Denver! I likely wouldn't bring my kids here til they were a bit older (we'll stick to Cabo for family trips for now).
Where we stayed
Todos is about an hour and a half drive north from the Los Cabos airport, so you'll definitely want to rent a car. Many restaurants and beaches are outside of the city center, so we were really glad to have one.
Brace yourselves for the bumpy driving...you get used to it (I'd rent an SUV next time!). Note you will need some cash for tolls.

There are several incredible boutique hotels in Todos Santos. We chose the Kimpton Mas Olas and were beyond impressed. From the outside, it's totally unassuming--situated right off a dirt road, as many places in Baja are.
Once you enter, you're greeted by a stunning, sprawling property filled with lush gardens, multiple picturesque pools, a seaside restaurant, and meticulously designed spaces at ever corner.

The spa looked incredible, too, and we're determined to visit next time. We also loved that it was right on the beach, but note that like many beaches in the area, it's not swimmable.

Hanna had stayed at Hotel San Cristobal on a previous trip and raved about it--it's much smaller and more intimate than Kimpton. I've heard incredible things about Peradero, too!
Where we ate
The food scene in Todos is nothing short of divine, and we were only there for a weekend. It's clear the farm-to-table movement runs deep here. Many restaurants have their own accompanying gardens where much of the produce is grown for their menus.
We also found the restaurants surprisingly affordable. The food was so fresh, thoughtful and ingredient-driven, yet completely approachable.
We also noticed a bunch of pizza spots and quickly learned that Todos has a strong Italian influence. Needless to say, pizza is high on our list for next time!
Agricole Cocina de Campo

We went to Agricole for our first meal of the trip (it's conveniently located on the drive from Cabo to Todos) and it completely exceeded our expectations. The garden setting is breathtaking. And yet somehow it's tucked right off the highway!

The food is exceptional without being fussy, letting the fresh local ingredients shine. It's no surprise Agricole earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand award. I can't wait to go back one day for dinner!
When we came back for brunch (and proceeded to order nearly the entire menu), we had the chance to chat with a woman making the tortillas by hand in the open kitchen. It made the experience feel even more special.

Leave some time for the farm shop, too. We couldn't resist grabbing some baked goods on the way out!
Barracuda Cantina
This casual, high energy restaurant located right on the beach of Los Cerritos (which is safe for swimming!) is a must-visit.

Prepare to get sandy and eat the best aguachile and shrimp tacos of your life. We ordered a special with tuna, lime and soy and it was easily one of the most fab bites of the trip.
Benno
Hotel San Cristobal's Michelin-recognized beachfront restaurant is an oasis not to be missed. We went for dinner and the sun setting on the sea was unreal.

The menu has roots in Mediterranean and Mexican cuisine, with local Baja seafood as a focal point. We were surprised to love their pasta dish the most!

Punto Pescadero
A quaint, family-owned breakfast spot on the side of the highway (literally). When you imagine true huevos rancheros in Mexico, this is it. Delish!

Jazamango
Another serene open-air setting complete with an on-site organic orchard. The menu highlights local seafood, wood-fired pizzas, pasta, and small plates.

I especially loved my cocktail there. We had a great time, though admittedly I didn't love Jazamango as much as Agricole.

What we did
After breakfast on Saturday, we spent the late morning shopping downtown (they have the BEST silver jewelry plus amazing art galleries and clothing stores!) and exploring more of the city.

Then we headed to Cerridos Beach for a late lunch and to enjoy the beach. Beyond that, we ate our weight in seafood and lounged at the pool!

A long weekend was the perfect amount of time
We only had two nights there but if I did it again I'd definitely want three. It's a small town, so you can easily spend one day relaxing at the pool/beach and another exploring downtown. If you want more to do besides longing, I'd recommend a day trip to Cabo.
It's worth mentioning we felt completely safe here. You do need to drink bottled water the whole time and use it to brush you teeth, but the hotels keep you well stocked.
