This Cherry Mocha Smoothie is the perfect combination of fresh cherries, cacao, and coffee in smoothie form!
Who needs a cherry pitter when you can de-pit a cup's worth of cherries using your very own denticles?!
Before man made cherry pitters, man made mouths capable of de-pitting even the peskiest of cherries.
Picture me trying to make this recipe. Naturally, fresh cherries were on sale at Whole Foods Market Upper Arlington so I decided to use those instead of the super convenient frozen pitted ones because let's face it, cherries are freaking pricey.
So I literally measured out a cup of the cherries, gave them a wash, and then proceeded to remove the pit of each and every one by ripping off the stem and then breaking the cherry in half with my teeth. I wanted to eat each cherry. I probably accidentally on purpose ate half. It was like a giant cherry tease fest.
In my next life, I shall buy a cherry pitter.
Scratch that. In my next life, I shall use frozen de-pitted and de-stemmed cherries. WHY DO I ALWAYS MAKE THINGS HARDER FOR MYSELF.
But seriously, how gorg are they? Who could resist that face? Not I.
So now that you're dying to de-pit cherries using your own chompers...ya right. Feel free to use frozen cherries and regular coffee (refrigerate it first so it's not hot) rather than fresh cherries and frozen coffee cubes. I haven't tried it this way, but I'm sure it would be just as delish.
Cherries and chocolate are no ground-breaking combination. But cherries and coffee? I wasn't even sure if it would taste good. Low and behold, it tastes more than good. It tastes like dreams. And cherry cacao coffee fairy dust.

Frozen coffee cubes > cold coffee. Cold coffee > hot coffee. You know how it goes.

I'm along myself the same thing - does cherry+code taste good?? Once I get my hands on fresh cherries (there aren't local ones available yet, only those imported -.-) I'll give it a try!

Alexis, I CAN picture you ripping open those cherries with your teeth! Exactly what I would do too… I have no patience with even a cherry pitter. So you have to be good friends with me to eat one of my cherry desserts, ha! 😉 Thanks for the fab flavor combo! xxx

Frozen cherries are my new favorite thing. I am afraid of using fresh cherries…taking the pits out is just so much work and wayyyy too complicated 🙂

Fresh summer cherries are the best - this looks delicious. You might try this - I have one and use it a lot - of course you would miss out on the pleasure of eating half of each cherry you pit 🙂
