G’day, lovely ladies and gents! Today is an extra fabulous What I Ate Wednesday moment (Jonathan from Queer Eye is my spirit animal) because in addition to a crazy delish day of good eats, we’re also chatting about a couple of my favorite oral care products: Tom’s of Maine Refreshing Mint Sea Salt toothpaste and Mouthwash!
But first, let’s chat morning munches.
I’m on a toast kick! We’re talkin’ two slices of toasty heritage grain sourdough piled high with avocado and za’atar, tahini, lemon, and salt on one piece and blackberries, coconut flakes, and salt on the other.
Leftover chili makes the best lunch! I topped it with a bit of freshly grated parmesan and tortilla strips. Salad on the side for some greens!
Why I Love Tom’s of Maine
If you follow me on Instagram, you know I’ve been brushing my pearly whites with Tom’s of Maine for years now. I especially love that I can buy the products online or at Target! I first started using it in college when I was looking for a natural alternative to toothpaste that didn’t have a bunch of artificial colors, flavors and sweeteners in it.
I’ve always admired the company’s transparency and quality standards when it comes to ingredients. Every ingredient they use goes through their Stewardship review process, which directs their standards for balancing natural, sustainable and responsible. They even have a glossary of every ingredient. Now that I can get behind! Fun fact: did you know 10% of Tom’s of Maine’s profits go back to supporting people and the planet?
Clearly your girl loves salt, so when the Refreshing Mint Sea Salt Toothpaste and Mouthwash made with purified sea salt came out, I felt like it was made for me. It kind of reminds me on being at the beach (hello, salt water) which is not a bad image to have in your brain while you’re brushing your teeth if I do say so myself.
Beyond the refreshing minty flavor, this toothpaste also helps remineralize weakened enamel (something I’ve had issues with in the past) and helps protect teeth from acid attacks. It of course also fights cavities and brushes away surface stains. No animal testing here!
The best part about the mouthwash for me is that it doesn’t burn. It actually tastes good! I could never use mouthwash growing up because it was too strong and verged on painful for me. I love that this mouthwash doesn’t have alcohol.
Now let’s talk snackage. I chowed down on a blueberry muffin (my banana bread made into muffins with 1 cup blueberries added) on my way to the gym.
Love how these turned out!
I made Ina the queen’s roasted salmon with green herbs using frozen wild salmon that I’d defrosted during the day. We paired it with snap peas sautéed in olive oil, salt, and pepper plus brown rice seasoning in the Instant Pot (2 cups rice, 2 1/2 cups water, big pinch of salt, cook on manual for 15 minutes then quick release for 15 minutes). Salad on the side!
