Why hello there, chickadees!
Breakfast: blueberry cacao with frozen broccoli (yes), Vega, spirulina, drippy salted peanut butter, Power O’s, cacao nibs, + all the Winan’s snickerdoodle coffee with almond milk
Guess what? I didn’t blog yesterday. Did you notice?
You didn’t notice. You only noticed when freaking TAMERA MOWREY made my Kale and Broccoli Salmon Burgers and then wrote about it ON HER BLOG. I died. Still so dead.
I spent Friday at my best friend’s wedding. I spent Saturday in the sun. Then I spent Sunday in the sun. We made pancakes. We drank coffee. We drank vodka sodas. We went hiking. We laid on the couch. We ate the best damn vegan meatball subs for lunch. Then we watched a movie.
And then I didn’t blog.
It felt balanced. It felt… amazing.
Lunch: hugh jass salad with mixed greens, arugula, carrots, tomatoes, red onion, green onion, leftover roasted peppers and sweet potatoes, dry roasted edamame, avocado, balsamic
Lately it has been a REAL struggle for me to find time on the weekends to devote to blogging. I’m constantly battling wanting/needing to devote my time to Alchemy, to my social life, to my boyfriend, to ME. Do I prep food for the week, work out, hang out with my friends, finish Alchemy stuff, or blog? I can’t do it all. I won’t do it all.
Snack: decaf iced coffee with soy milk, chocolate peanut butter protein muffin, pumpkin RXbar a couple hours later (SO good), Fuji apple slices
But don’t worry, I’m not going to waste this whole post blabbering about how difficult it is to find balance. You’ve heard it all before! But I want you to know that that’s where I’m at right now.
I’m heading off to Michigan tomorrow for my first ever blogger retreat and I can’t freaking wait. I think it’s perfect timing. I want, I need, to relax and re-fall-in-love with my blog. I need to be re-inspired. I need to be motivated to find time to cook and clean and write and photograph when it’s sunny out and all I want to do is live my life not behind a screen.
Dinner: Acre Thai Bowl with cauliflower, broccoli, carrots, tofu, coconut brown rice and bangkok peanut sauce plus some of the boy’s kale caesar
Dessert: sea salt and turbinado sugar dark chocolate covered almonds
Now let’s chat! Tell me what recipes you want to read about. Tell me what you want to hear about that’s not recipes. I want to hear from you!
Lurve ya.
I love all your recipes! They are great, my favorite is the curried chickpea salad. I feel the same about trying to find a balance, probably the one reason I haven’t started my own blog is because I feel like I don’t have the time. So cheers to you! And I AM SO EXCITED that you are headed to Michigan for a bloggers re-treat! Is it by change with Liz Lemon Bowl?! Lake Michigan is amazing, Liz is a local blogger in my area and I am inspired by her everyday. Enjoy the retreat!! Can’t wait to read about it on the blog!
I feel ya girl. Last week I worked like 70 hours…aka no time for blogging, meaning nothing really to post for this week. On my down time I just want to relax. But everyone will still be here if you miss a post or two. So cool that she made your recipe!

Hiking and enjoying the sun sounds exactly what I have been craving! Now that the weather is warm I have been in the same boat having trouble wanting to spend time blogging and wanting to be outside all day everyday!

Hope the weather is warm for you. Was in Ann Arbor first week of April and it snowed. I’m a whimpy Missourian
Would love to have you talk about how best to eat when work schedule requires over night shifts or swing shifts.

Good for you for setting straight your priorities. I love your posts, but it’s okay if they don’t come as often. I would love to read more about your work in nutrition counseling. As a future RD, I love to learn about those real life experiences!

I am a Dietitian student (Junior) and we recently learned about Iron’s bio-availability in Non-meat sources and how a vegan is recommended to get 70% more iron than the RDA because of the low absorption. Since you’re predominantly vegan, I was wondering how you manage to get your Iron in? To me it almost seems like you would have to supplement? Thanks for your consideration! I love reading your blog and you’re so inspiring!

Girl, I feel ya! Working full time and having the blog on the side is a struggle for balance, to say the least! And I’m only a few months into it! Its all worth it in the end, but I think you’ve got to give yourself some time off if that will make you feel better. Your followers, including me, will understand and will wait for a good blog post that is inspired rather than forced! Happy Wednesday 🙂
