Hiya, pals!
Have you been eating all the pumpkin muffins? I've loved seeing you make them on Instagram! Words can't express how much I appreciate a good muffin recipe.
We've been starting our mornings with coffee, a pumpkin muffin, and a nice walk. It's so darn fall-ish and I love it (even though it was like 90 degrees yesterday).
After our walk, I do blog work for a while and then eat a "real" breakfast an hour or so later.
Breakfast
I've been craving oatmeal again, but savory style. Jeff eats his with cinnamon and blueberries and I've been eating mine with an over easy egg, avocado, salt and pepper.
I do have to have a pretty big bowl of it to stay full for a while!
I almost always have something else to eat before I leave the house around 10:30 or 11am. I used to analyze my hunger and question why I was hungry, as if it were wrong to feel that way.
Now when I'm hungry, I simply eat. Magic!
Triscuit thin crisps with salted peanut butter are my jam lately.
Lunch
I made Jeff and I tuna wraps using Wild Planet tuna and a huge thing of saurkraut that I get from Costco.
I drain a couple cans and mix it with a bunch of kraut, chopped onion, bell pepper, celery, dried dill, plenty of Dijon, red wine vinegar, and olive oil. Plus sweetest grapes from our CSA box on the side!
I stocked up on some of our favorite goodies from Trader Joe's, like dried mango (crack), sweet potato gnocchi, frozen pizza crusts, chocolate chips, frozen wild salmon, sunflower seed butter cups, and pickles.
And of course cards because they're always fab and cost a dollar.
Dinner
I defrosted Trader Joe's frozen wild salmon and then cut it into fillets. I buy two big pieces to last us for a couple nights.
Once it was defrosted, I patted it dry then seasoned it with lots of kosher salt, pepper, and olive oil before broiling it on high for about 8 minutes.
We had a packet of brown basmati rice ready to go that I mixed with salt, garlic, and cilantro and some Brussels sprouts and broccoli we'd roasted earlier. We devoured it with leftover arugula pesto!
Dessert lately is either a So Delicious ice cream sandwich or a dark chocolate peanut butter cup. I don't discriminate.
Style Inspo
I got this soft camel blazer from Nordstrom Rack the other day and I can tell it's going to be my new favorite item. It's so comfy and perfect to throw over a top when you don't want a heavy jacket!
I also got these pointy beige booties for 47% off that I'm planning on wearing with this super cute white dress for my bachelorette party in Denver next weekend.
I know I'm going to be wearing these all season long. The low heel is perfect and I love everything Sam Edelman does!
Books!
I just finished City of Girls on Audible and while I enjoyed it, I didn't at all think it lived up to the hype. The last third of the book was rather odd and I felt it was disconnected from the other two thirds of the story. I appreciate the femininity, but it wasn't a very stimulating book to me.
I read The Girl Before while I was traveling and it was definitely a page turner. I devoured it!
I just started Girls like Us on Audible, which is supposed to be full of crazy surprises. I'll keep you posted!
This made me LOL because it's so me. Kudos to Abby Has Issues for writing and Adrienne Hedger for illustrating!
What are you reading lately?

Thank you SO much for normalizing morning hunger and being ok with snacks after breakfast and for saying that oatmeal doesn't fill you up - it never fills me up and I'm questioning my desire to snack half an hour later 🙁 Love your perspective! Also, never thought of savory oats! Looks delish!!

Awww of course! Thanks for reading and engaging, Katelyn!

I so love this idea of having a delicious food like a muffin & then breakfast later. It’s like an appetizer, & it reminds me of our honeymoon bed & breakfast. Every morning we would either get a sweet dish to start then a savory or vice versa. You get so much variety that way! Alll of your eats look incredible, girl. Love your fashion too! Blazers can feel so powerful, huh?

Who wouldn't want an appetizer for breakfast?! I love it!! XOXO

I LOVED Becoming by Michelle Obama. Also, White Oleander by Janet Finch was both a quick read and eye opening. Before We Were Yours by Lisa Wingate is the kind of good that makes you cry and research afterwards!
Alexis Joseph says
Yes, I loved Becoming as well and absolutely ADORED Before We Were Yours. So incredible.

I'm slugging through City of Girls. My kindle says I'm 65% done......

For the record, that meme/card/cartoon should be attributed to Abby Has Issues and Hedger Humor. It started as a meme from Abby Has Issues and then got picked up by Recycled Paper Greetings as a card 🙂 Glad you like it!
