G'day, friends!
Today I turn 29 years young. Allllmost 30. But not quite! I leave for Japan on Saturday and I'm crazy excited to experience a culture that's so new to me. Onto the food!
Breakfast
I had a nasty cold the past week that knocked me out for two solid days and then lingered. And it's still lingering! I have my normal appetite back which is always reassuring. For breakfast I paired over easy eggs with Angelic Bakehouse sprouted toast topped with plenty of avocado, salt, red pepper flakes, and micro pea shoots from our CSA box.
Coffee on the side!
Lunch
Lunch was leftovers from a fabulous dinner the night before. I made a double batch of salmon burgers, pesto potatoes with arugula inspired by this recipe, and snap peas. Totally hit the spot!
I snacked on a blueberry yogurt and one of these epic chocolate banana muffins for a snack.
Dinner
We got takeout from La Tavola and it was a fabulous decision. Their vegetarian pizza with dressed arugula on top is my favorite pie in town! The house salad with citrus, beets, fennel, and pistachio is also wonderful So into Spindrift raspberry lime right now, too.
Dessert
I've been on a huge chocolate covered pretzel kick. Last time I bought them at Trader Joe's but when we ran out I decided to make my own. I simply melted a bowl of chocolate chips, dip pretzels into the chocolate, and lay them flat on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
I let them set in the fridge and then kept them out on the counter in a glass container. So easy!
Books + Style Inspo
Thinking about adding a book section to my new Shop page! In reading news, I just finished One Day in December and absolutely loved it. Before that was More Than Words which I also really liked (same author as The Light We Lost, so good). Now I'm listening to Educated on Audible (I pretty much always am listening to a book on Audible). On my list next are Pachinko, Where the Crawdads Sing, and Dare to Lead.
As far as some comfy chic + conservative Japan outfits, I ordered these Ked's for walking, these black pants, this blazer, this button down blouse, these high waisted belt pants, and this belted button skirt.
Loving this tie front jumpsuit (I also got this striped button one and it's SO comfy) and these amazing nude flats (40% off) for summer.
Hope you have a stellar week!

Japan is amazing! I’ve gotten to go twice for work this past year!! Pretty much every single photo I posted on insta was food - don’t miss oyakodon and ramen (in addition to daily sushi obvi ;). )0! Also totally recommend a green tea ceremony.
Alexis says
How cool is that! We're doing a ramen cooking class and a tea ceremony and I can't wait!

All excellent choices for your next audible books! Pachinko was excellent. You really learn a lot about the Korean culture and history. I just finished Where the Crawdogs Sing and let me tell you, you will not be disappointed! Definitely another great “read”.
Have an amazing time in Japan!

I can't wait to read them (and to get to Japan!). Thanks, Christine!
