Better late than never!
I actually wrote this post last week in anticipation of it being Tuesday night and me having nothing written and man do I know myself well! This week felt a bit more normal, if you will. That said, the past couple weeks looked something like this: get to Alchemy Grandview at 7am (or 7:07am if I’m being honest), drink coffee and try to drink lots of water, shove a piece of avocado toast in my face around 9am, chow down on our jackfruit tacos, our beet rueben, fiesta green salad, or a loaded smoothie when I have time around 2pm, and pick something up for dinner. One night I even asked Jeff to make dinner! It was amazing.
‘Tis a busy season of life. I have a whole new level of appreciation for sitting down and enjoying a meal. Even eating my usual steel cut oats in an actual chair felt like a luxury!
Breakfast
My go-to heritage grain sourdough toast piled high with avocado, salt, za’atar, purple kraut, and local micro greens.
Weekend brunch at Alchemy! This is our Mediterranean Breakfast with organic eggs, mixed olives, pickled turnips, toast, cucumbers, tomatoes, hummus, and olive oil.
Blueberry cacao smoothie with a heaping cup of frozen blueberries, a tablespoon of cacao, a tablespoon of hemp seeds, a spoonful of avocado, a splash of vanilla extract, a scoop of chocolate plant protein, and about 10 ounces of almond milk. The best!
My old standard steel cut oatmeal with almond butter, strawberries, blueberries, cinnamon, and mulberries. And guess what? We now serve this combo at Alchemy during the week for breakfast! We even get the same Terra Soul mulberries (in bulk, of course). I’ve also been doing tons of almond milk cappuccinos with my new Espressotoria espresso machine + frother.
The yummiest toast with avocado, strawberries, tahini, maple syrup, and salt. So obsessed!
Alchemy’s Brunch Toast with avocado mash, cured lemon, sumac, pickled turnips, poached eggs, and micro greens. Can you tell I’ve been eating every meal here?!
The most stellar Carrot Cake Waffle with maple cashew cream cheese drizzle, candied carrots, and charred pineapple.
Lunch + Dinner
Yummy mix of Mediterranean food from Mazzah.
Our Fiesta Green salad with this epic cilantro lime hemp dressing and grilled salmon.
Random mix of smoked salmon, pesto ancient grains, purple kraut, avocado mash, kalebouli, and hummus.
Shrimp with coconut milk, tomatoes, and cilantro plus brown basmati rice and cilantro. I used a mix of full fat coconut milk and vegetable broth and added a handful of chickpeas, fresh spinach and Trader Joe’s frozen wild shrimp. It turned out so incredible! On the side we had local greens with carrots, cucumbers, peppers, lemon juice, olive oil, za’atar, sumac, salt and pepper.
Spicy Yuma pizza from Harvest with vegan sausage plus salad and shishito peppers.
Bean balls with brown rice fusilli (I’ve been getting big bags from Costco), Kirkland’s organic marinara, nooch, and steamed broccoli.
Jackfruit tacos with charred pineapple, herb cashew cream, purple cabbage slaw, and micro greens.
Lasagna!!
All the sushi from Akai Hana.
Tacos, chips and salsa, and a really yummy grapefruit cocktail from Local Cantina.
We walked to G. Michael’s to celebrate my birthday on Tuesday and it was so wonderful. We started off with mussels with spicy shrimp toast and yummy cocktails plus bread and butter.
For my entree, I ordered the blackened tofu with sautéed spinach and succotash. It was all incredible!
Snacks/Desserts
For dessert at G. Michael’s, we had a lemon tart with passionfruit sauce, fresh whipped cream, and gingerbread crust. It was as good as it sounds!
Spontaneous walk to Jeni’s! I love the walkability of our favorite spots in German Village. The charm here is infectious. Jeff and I shared a cone with brambleberry crisp and brown butter almond brittle.
Fage blueberry greek yogurt with walnuts and granola.
The easiest, yummiest treat—Salted Chocolate PB Oatmeal Bites! I eat them straight out of the freezer.
My go-to dessert during the week when I haven’t made anything special is this dark chocolate and almond milk. My obsession!
I got a bunch of little Sabra Snackers and I’ve been averaging one a day. The pretzels are so dang crunchy and perfect! Yesterday morning I was starving and randomly enjoyed one right after my oatmeal. Not sorry!
Another epic treat we had was a bananas foster tart with a gingery crust, fresh whipped cream, and dark chocolate sauce. I’m trying to spend less time on my phone so I’ve been conscious of not whipping out my cell phone to photograph food when I’m with a group of non-bloggy friends.
I don’t have much style inspiration to show since everything I’ve been wearing has to be able to get covered in smoothies, but I wanted to share my favorite comfy new sandals! The rose gold is sold out but silver is also adorable. These are the awesome chunky earrings I’m wearing. Jeans are a couple years old from Target and top is also old from Old Navy.
Have an amazing week, lovely humans!
They all look amazing!
Happy belated Birthday!
Jeni’s recently opened in DC, so before school let out I had the immense pleasure of trying it out not once but TWICE. Bramble berry crisp and almond brittle are def some of the best flavors. Honestly they’re all incredible though.
Love all the avocado toast ideas!!!
Everything looks delicious! Hoping the next couple weeks are a little less crazy for you!
^ Same! All the Alchemy food looks amazing!
Also very much craving jackfruit tacos now, yuuuum
The more I read your posts and look at what you’ve eaten for the week, the more I want to visit Alchemy! Everything looks so delicious! 🙂
