What I Ate and Wore This Week

    Published Jun 6, 2018 · Modified Apr 13, 2019 · by Alexis Joseph · 16 Comments

It was another crazy week here in Hummusapien land!

There were so many times this week that I thought, "I wish my readers could be here to see this." To see that my life is hilariously messy. That my brain is so scattered and that I question everything all of the time. That sometimes, like last Thursday when I got home from the restaurant at 10pm after opening it at 7am, dinner is a bar and handfuls of crackers and chocolate covered almonds. Standing up, of course.

Most of my meals (besides dinner) were eaten at Alchemy or out, as you can easily see for yourself from the pictures. I'm taking it all a day a time and prioritizing things like relationships, stretching, and disconnecting over micromanaging my food. Letting it all go feels so good these days!

    Breakfast

Strawberry avocado toast with honey plus avocado toast with za'atar and micro greens.

Steel-cut oatmeal with salted date pecan butter, berries, mulberries, and cinnamon.

I'm still loving my cappuccinos as much as ever. Espressotoria is running a fab deal where you can buy six coffee pod paxks and get an Espressatoria machine FREE! Great Father's Day gift if you're dad loves coffee as much as mine.

Our brunch tacos with black bean spread, scrambled eggs, purple cabbage slaw, and avocado, on blue corn tortillas with hot sauce.

Smoked salmon with a rye croissant and greens plus my favorite chocolate croissant and coffee from Pistacia Vera. Shared with a friend and baby!

Tomato galette with olives and cheese, coffee, and another chocolate croissant shared with Jeff on the most gorgeous Saturday morning.

    Lunch

Leftovers Lebanese food from a Ramadan feast! Grape leaves with baba ganoush , batata harra (fried potatoes with garlic and herbs), the best chickpea dish with tahini yogurt sauce, garlic, and crispy pita, and roasted veggies. I went back for seconds!

Snack plate with pesto ancient grains, kalebouli, purple kraut, roasted chickpeas, hummus, and hot sauce.

Quinoa taco soup of the day.

    Dinner

Lebanese feast! Not pictured is the amazing pistachio rose water dessert and hot coffee that we enjoyed outside.

Grillable black bean burgers with all the grilled veggies and sweet potatoes. I used a mix of lentils and black beans, subbed ketchup instead for BBQ, added Worcestershire sauce plus a beaten egg. They turned out amazing!

Grilled cod tacos with strawberry avocado salsa, cabbage, and cilantro lime crema. Recipe coming to the blog tomorrow! Costco's frozen wild cod fillets coming in strong.

Asian carrot noodle salad with a blueberry cacao smoothie on the side. My sandals are THE most comfy. Rose gold is sold out but they still have silver!

Kale caesar salad with grilled salmon and roasted chickpeas.

Unpictured shishito peppers, pimento cheese dip + bread, mushroom pizza, and yummy ginger Mezcal cocktails from Harvest.

    Snacks/Treats

Really into peanut butter chocolate banana smoothies with chocolate plant protein and cacao powder.

Blueberry smoothie with almond butter, hemp seeds, cinnamon, spirulina, oats, and banana.

Beers and a bread + cheese board at the new Brew Dog on Friday evening.

    Chocolate Perfect Bar.

The yummiest mini chocolate almond flour donut.

And a coconut, banana, pineapple one after a super long day!

    Style

Nude booties (these are super cute and the same brand, also these are half off!), off the shoulder top, and white jeans.

Obsessed with these yellow earrings. My sister got me this sideways initial necklace for my birthday last year and I wear it all the time. Great gift idea!

This floral one-piece is my go-to swimsuit. I bought it on a whim when we visited Denver last year after not packing a swimsuit and I'm so glad I did. Have an epic week!

I love the Lebanese spread! My husband is Lebanese and this makes me miss his family's cooking (especially during Ramadan).

The Lebanese feast looks amazing! I wish there were more places for Lebanese food here in Hong Kong. I've resorted to trying to make it myself, but I doubt my cooking is all that authentic!
