    The Best Healthy Holiday Treats!

    Published Dec 22, 2020 · Modified Dec 22, 2020 · by Alexis Joseph · 3 Comments

A complete roundup of my favorite festive holiday treats, including tons of vegan and gluten free options! From the most epic cookies, brownies and bars to pie and quick bread, everyone will find something to love.

    Healthy Monster Cookies

Kay says, "Perfection! Best PB cookie recipe I’ve made! You wouldn’t ever guess these are GF and eggless!"

    plate of monster cookies

    Healthy Snickerdoodles

Jill says, "This recipe was simply fantastic. So easy to make and they were delicious and gone almost immediately. My husband wasn’t a huge snickerdoodle fan until he had these. I had another snickerdoodle recipe that I used to use but threw it out after making this one. Hummusapien recipes are always excellent and healthy and Alexis is SO helpful if you have substitution questions. Add this recipe to your list."

hand holding four snickerdoodlesVegan Peanut Butter Cup Cookies

Annie says, "These were so delicious and super easy to make. They do not taste “healthy” at all! Even my picky allergy 5 year old loved them! Thanks so much for this amazing recipe!"

Amazing 1-bowl Vegan Peanut Butter Cup Cookies that come together in not time, zero chilling required! They're just as good as the classic and are gluten-free.

    Amazing Vegan Ginger Molasses Cookies

Renee says, "Holy moly!! These are so good! Far better than my mom’s. Please don’t tell her! Seriously, make these. They’ll change your life for the better!!"

Irresistibly soft and chewy Healthy Ginger Molasses Cookies made in 1 bowl! Packed with ginger spice, these will be your new favorite holiday cookie. Vegan and gluten-free!

    Healthier Peanut Butter Blossoms

Dina says, "Love these!!! So delicious and easy to make and my favorite Christmas cookies. Thanks for the recipe!!"

Healthy Pumpkin Gingerbread with Maple Glaze

Angelina says, This came out so good! I used regular eggs and butter instead of vegan, and used Bob’s Red Mill 1 to 1 Gluten Free flour instead, and it worked perfectly. The perfect holiday treat!"

Coconut Oil Chocolate Chip Cookies with Pomegranate

Aubrey says, "I just made these! I used all purpose flour and the vegan flax egg, and they turned out great! Quick, easy, and delicious! 10/10 definitely recommend!"

    Raspberry Thumbprint Cookies

Amber says, "These cookies are INCREDIBLE. The texture is soft, chewy and moist with a punch of sweetness from the raspberry jam. My entire family is already begging me to whip up another batch!

    The Best Vegan Brownies

Maclean says, "I made these again this weekend because my partner couldn’t stop talking about them! The only thing I did differently was, once they were out of the oven and cooled slightly, I topped them with ¼ chocolate chips so it was like an easy icing and then a bit of salt. They turned out perfectly and are now a fave in our household! Thank you – again!"

Amazing Almond Flour Chocolate Chip Cookies

Amy says, "Delicious!!! My daughter made these the other day and my husband said he actually likes these better than the nestle chocolate chip cookie recipe!!! That’s a huge compliment!"

    Flourless Chocolate Gingerbread Bars

Rachel says, "These bars are so delicious! I love the dense texture and the combination of the chocolate and spices are on point."

    Easy Vegan Chocolate Peppermint Pie

Jake says, "This was shockingly easy. The whole family loved it! Will definitely make again."

    Peppermint Chocolate Skillet Cookie

Krista says, "Loved this recipe!! Perfect for the holidays + I am obsessed with mint."

Healthy Peppermint Chocolate Rice Crispy Treats

Kelsey says, "Super quick, simple recipe. Used peppermint marshmallows to really take the peppermint flavor overboard. Thanks Alexis!"

    Healthy Vegan Ginger Snap Cookies

Laura says, "So delicious! I just made a double batch because I knew they’d be good, and they did not disappoint."

    Chocolate Chip Gingerbread Chickpea Blondies

Tracey says "I just made these for a holiday party & they’re DELICIOUS!! You definitely can’t tell that the main ingredient is chickpeas!! (I’m a huge fan of sneaking legumes & veggies into desserts ha!) That glaze? Dayuuummm!!!"

this is really disappointing - i follow this page because it smashes the idea that holidays should/need to be healthy. this post is only falling back into those toxic ways of thinking. yes - there is a balance- but this is not helping the mainstream ideas of diet culture get defeated. disappointed. PS - something being vegan or glutenfree does not make them healthier.

Hi there! Thank you for your comment. On this blog, I do post recipes made with nourishing ingredients that taste delicious, hence the focus of this post. That doesn't mean I don't enjoy and advocate for eating the "real thing" or that I believe the holidays center around health (of course they don't!), but this blog is a resource for healthy recipes at its core. Posting healthy recipes doesn't mean I'm shaming traditional recipes. That's why I do lots of lifestyle posts on IG and IG stories and on my weekly eats posts that highlight all kinds of food, from pizza to pancakes to cinnamon rolls (very far from V, GF, "healthy," etc). I have tons of V and GF readers and friends who enjoy having recipes that they're able to consume; though I'm with you that those terms aren't synonymous with health! (Ingredients in these recipes like almond flour, whole wheat flour, flax, etc, are.) I really try my best to showcase the balance of more healthy foods with fun foods and to be super transparent about the balance I have in my own life, but that's conveyed in many ways beyond these blog posts (which are also titled and include keywords for the sake of Google as this blog is a full time job for me and Google is a massive part of that). I hope that helps. Have a wonderful holiday!
