New Breakfast Spot I'm Loving Lately: South of Lane

Columbus has some fab breakfast joints.

Tasi and Northstar are my go-to spots, but I was excited when I heard about a new breakfast place opening near where I live in Upper Arlington. South of Lane is a charming little spot with fun vintage finds and antiques, tasty food, and sinfully good locally roasted Thunderkiss coffee.

The owner says the menu is growing every day, but right now they offer fluffyΒ omelets, homemade toast, bacon, eggs and waffles. If you're looking for a waffle sandwich stuffed with peanut butter and banana, or better yet peanut butter and bacon, South of Lane delivers with the "PB2."

I really appreciated the simple menu, cozy decor and local feel. The seating is pretty limited, so I would recommend coming during the week if you can to avoid the rush. I ordered the 3-2-1 Greek omelete (three eggs, two folds, one cheese) and wheat toast with an iced coffee. When I asked if they had soymilk for the coffee, she said they had coconut milk-- and you know that made my day!

The three egg omelete was bursting with fresh tomatoes, red onion, spinach, kalamata Β olives and tangy feta. It was fluffy, huge and delicious. Needless to say, I ate every bite plus the two pieces of toast. I was full, but not overwhelmingly full. It wasn't one of those big greasyΒ omeletsΒ loaded with ridiculous amounts of cheese. It was simply omelete perfection.

If you're looking for a charming spot serving up delicious breakfast fare, South of Lane is sure to please. The coffee alone is worth the trip. Enjoy!
