I consider grocery shopping not only a hobby, but also a talent.
Like, I'm good at grocery shopping. I know where to find the best deals, how much every item under the sun should cost, what I should buy organic, and where to snag the coupons. I also enjoy grocery shopping. Call me crazy, but life has not stripped the joy out of this humble activity just yet even though I do it with insane frequency.
By now you all know that I do the bulk of my grocery shopping at Kroger. Why? Because it's convenient, because they have the cheapest organic produce around, and because having the Simple Truth version of nearly everything I buy makes navigating the aisles hella easy. Anything under that brand is free from artificial preservatives and ingredients, including everything from high fructose corn syrup and aspartame to autolyzed yeast extract and parbens.
They also have sales and coupons alllll the time. I have the Kroger app on my phone, so I always peruse what's on sale and load the coupons before I shop. Based on your purchases, they also mail you tailored coupons so every couple months I'll get coupons for things like frozen berries, almond milk, produce, beans, and other items they know I buy all the time.
The other splendid thing is that Simple Truth items aren't solely in the "healthy/natural" aisle. You'll find a selection of them sprinkled out throughout the store, like tea, maple syrup, coconut flour, salsa, chips, salad dressing, beans, and more. The items I'm featuring today are mostly all organic because that's my jam, but rest assured that there's also Simple Truth Natural for those items where you don't want to splurge on organic.
Few things make me happier than affordable, healthy, and delish food. Enjoy!
Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk
When in doubt, buy the store brand. It's nearly always cheaper! This guy is usually on sale for $2.49, making it a lot cheaper than the big brands. We use almond milk daily in smoothies, oatmeal, baking recipes, and straight up in a glass.
Whole Wheat Pasta
Nothin' like a box of organic whole grain pasta for under $1.50. We make bean balls weekly, so we always have a box of this staple pasta on hand!
Sea Salt and Black Pepper Popcorn
I'm in a love love relationship with pepper. Obsessed. So this is like healthy salted popcorn but even better! They have a plain version too, but I've never one to say no to a fun flavor. Warning: it's addicting!
Beans
These organic beans in cans without BPA (a known hormone disrupter found in plastics and linings of cans) are always on sale for a dollar. You know I use beans in just about everything!
Unsweetened Applesauce
I love having little single serving packs of unsweetened applesauce for recipes and snacking. Apples are high up on the Dirty Dozen list, so I'm big on buying organic apple products to help reduce exposure to pesticides.
Flaxseed Meal
This bag was on sale for a whopping $2.09! We use "flax eggs" all the time in pancakes and baking recipes. I also like to add it to smoothies and no-bake bites.
Chia Seeds
These were on sale for just over $5.00. Sometimes I put chia seeds in my smoothies or whip up a yummy chia pudding. Most often I microwave frozen berries and add a spoonful of chia seeds to make a thick "jelly" for topping pancakes.
Blue Corn Taco Shells
These crunchy gems are the BEST loaded with the chickpea pecan taco "meat" I've mentioned in a bunch of recent What I Ate Wednesday posts! As an added bonus, blue corn is much higher in antioxidants than its yellow counterpart.
Eggs
I don't eat a ton of eggs, but I'll usually have one or two with my pancakes on weekends. When I crave them, I eat them! When we can't make it to Costco to get the big pack of 24, these are our go-to. Organic eggs taste INSANELY better than conventional.
Tahini (sesame seed butter) can be super pricey, but not this one! Tahini is great for homemade hummus, in salad dressings, and in veggie burgers. Love it with lemon and garlic!
Garlic Hummus
Last but so not least is my personal favorite...hummus! This is a newer to me simple truth find. I usually get Oasis roasted garlic (which I also can only find at Kroger), but this one is way more creamy since it's made with oil. Drizzle with sriracha and go to town!
What are your favorite Simple Truth Items? I'd love to know!

the kroger by me just started carrying simple truth dips, located by the hummus. the (vegan!) spicy sweet potato black bean dip is my fave !! i've also tried the beet ginger dip -- that one was interesting but the sweet potato dip wins. there's a third that's Mediterranean inspired but it has cheese so i had to pass. definitely look for them!

I have the Kroger app & buy mostly Simple Truth products also! Have you tried their nuts? They're usually always on sale for at a bargain at $6.99 found in the produce aisle. Can't get enough of the walnuts, cashews, or pecans! I put them in my smoothies & top off my cottage cheese & Greek yogurt with them! Yummy!
