What I Ate Wednesday: A Day In the Life

    Published Oct 29, 2014 · Modified Nov 8, 2021 · by Alexis Joseph · 42 Comments

4:50am: My alarm goes off, and I want to die a little. I contemplate not getting up. I'm deeply saddened by the fact that it's pitch black outside. I think about how many hours of sleep I got and how I shouldn't feel like a zombie. I roll out of bed, put my contacts in, brush my teeth, wash my face, put some makeup on, slick my hair back in a lazy bun, get dressed, and prep my breakfast and lunch. Lately I've been packing Love Grown super oats to make at work. I mix in frozen blueberries and almond butter once I get there because 5:30am is WAY to early for me to eat! Out the door by 5:37am. alchemy home 5:45am: I get to Alchemy, restock cups and plastic silverware, brew coffee, fill cashew mylk bottles, prep the coldwell, and clean the place up. I contemplate drinking coffee but I know that my stomach will hate me if I do. 7:00am: Another employee walks in and I'm free to hop on my computer and start responding to emails. I create a to-do list for staff for the day, including making tuna kraut, chia pudding, hummus, almond butter, curried brussels sprout salad, sweet potato and lentil salad, and slicing tomatoes. oatmeal 8:00am: Eat my oatmeal over a fabulous article in The Dispatch. Meanwhile, I re-read my most recent blog post, quickly scan over a few other blogs, wash the blenders, clean up Alchemy. 9:00am: Hang out with the juicers as they juice Easy Beet and Green Glow and then help package all the juice with our beautiful new juice labels! Send follow-up emails to other nutrition counseling clients. 10:00am: Alchemy gets busy (maybe because of the article?) so we make tons of smoothies, toast, and acai bowls for eager customers. One customer asks if I'm "the Alchemist." I laugh at him. 11:00am: Start preparing for my initial consultation for a nutrition client in the afternoon, including going over questionnaires, reading food records, and organizing my thoughts. It's so rewarding to be able to empower people to achieve their healthy lifestyle goals! Then I work a bit on next week's schedule. lunch 12:00pm: Place a big produce order with a distributor. Scarf down lunch, which is whole wheat penne pasta that I found at the back of the pantry with vegan pumpkin cheese sauce, roasted broccoli and brussels sprouts, peas, and zucchini. Thanks Robyn for the inspiration! 1:00pm: Nutrition consultation with a new client who wants to learn how to clean up his diet. 2:00pm: Document appointment, write follow-up email to client. smoothie 3pm: Respond to a million emails, including ones from the media, distributors, and nutrition clients. Talk to The Dispatch about another article they want to write on Alchemy. Make a quick smoothie with frozen blueberries, almond milk, cacao, spinach, and chia seeds. Yum in my tum. 4:00pm: Prepare for the staff meeting on Thursday. Start re-writing the menu to include new changes we're making. Brainstorm new smoothie and sandwich ideas. Snack on some unpictured Shagbark tortilla chips with hummus. apple 5:30pm: Nosh on an apple while driving home. 6:15pm: Head to Body Pump! dinner 7:45pm: Get home from working out and microwave leftover wild salmon, roasted broccoli and brussels sprouts, and one lonely enchilada (all dipped in hummus with hot sauce). I think about how glad I am that I have food already prepped. chocolate 8:30pm: Snack on a couple squares of some fabulous salted dark chocolate with cacao nibs. OMG, so good. 8:45pm Write this blog post and get extremely excited to faceplant into my pillow. 9:30pm: SO. TIRED. Bedtime!]]>
