This is basically my breakfast every morning. Smoothie + cute straw + toast with hummus. But not this morning! And yes, this picture was taken on my car. You may think that because I'm a dietitian/blogger/foodie that I'm noshing on massaged kale salads with goji berries on the reg, but that's far from the truth. I'm busier than ever. I don't even know what a normal day looks like anymore. I haven't been to the grocery store in a week and a half. (If that doesn't sound weird to you, know that I usually go twice a week). I stock up on the essentials like almond milk, hummus, bananas, frozen blueberries, spinach, eggs, Ezekiel bread, broccoli, sweet potatoes, and avocado and then I fly by the seat of my pants. Sometimes my lunch is a salted chocolate chia bar with hummus and crackers. Planning Alchemy has been one hell of a ride, and making perfectly balanced meals hasn't been at the top of my agenda. A typical day would be my blueberry chocolate green smoothie for breakfast , something random for lunch like quinoa with broccoli, edamame, hummus and hot sauce, and then eggs and toast with avocado for dinner. Snacks have been bars and muffins from the freezer. One thing I've learned is that you'll never regret starting the day with a smoothie. And speaking of smoothies.... I can't wait to tell you guys alllll about my career with Alchemy! But not yet. Do you hate me? Because I've had meetings left and right, I've been eating out a lot. Sometimes you just have to roll with the punches. We all fall off the healthy eating train, and stressing about it only makes life harder. In fact, stress is worse for you than that brownie. Remember that tomorrow is a new day and it's up to you to make the most of it, brownies or not. While we're on the subject, people who act like they're eating 100% clean and healthy all the freaking time AREN'T. And if they are, they sure as hell aren't happy! No one is perfect, no matter how they portray themselves on social media. Be your best self and don't beat yourself up if you're eating a donut and miss flat tummy over-sexualized #fitspo is eating egg whites with stevia. It's normal to feel lost sometimes. It's normal to feel like you're not Betty Crocker. Because you're not Betty Crocker. You're busy, you're tired, you're stressed, and you just don't care. We've all been there. Sometimes there are bigger and better things than superfood salads and that's ok. Kale will be there when you get back. And trust me, you will get back. Now onto the eats! I met a friend for brunch around 9:30am at my favorite spot, Northstar. I got the big burrito sans the burrito and cheese. It's basically all my favorite foods in one bowl, including sweet potatoes, eggs, black beans, peppers and onions, avocado and salsa. Deee-lish. I also had an iced coffee on the side because it's the bomb dot com even though it makes me a jittery freak. I somehow didn't really have lunch. Around 1pm I snacked on Larabar's new granola, which is basically all nuts and seeds and no grains. The verdict? I loved it! It's the perfect snack size, not too high in sugar, packed with plant-powered protein, and tasty to boot. I also had a beyond amazing green rhubarb rooibos iced tea from Stauf's coffee shop. Then I got home and sampled a Loaded Chickpea Protein Bar after a little photo sesh....more on those bad boys soon! After Barre3 I went to dinner at Lavash (a fab Mediterranean restaurant with gigantic portions) with my best girlfriends. I got the mujadara salad which is basically lentils and rice with lebanese salata, AKA major yum. After that, we talked for hours about life-sized juicers and nutrition counseling for Alchemy and called it a night!]]>
