FUSIAN has been our best “restaurant friend” (and totally real friend, too) ever since Alchemy opened two short years ago.
FUSIAN opened in 2010 as a fast casual sushi concept that prides itself on not only fresh and local ingredients, but also a stellar dining experience. I remember eating at their first Columbus location on Ohio State’s campus as a wee little junior in college. I never could have imagined sitting here a few years later writing about this unique collaboration with a campus concept of our own on the way! Oh how life has changed.
Alchemy and FUSIAN’s core values as businesses serving responsibly sourced, wholesome, quick eats with purpose align pretty much to a T. This collaboration has been a long time in the making!
From FUSIAN’s co-founder Zach, operational boss lady and VP Teresa, marketing lead Jake, designer Emily, chef Nick and so many more…I adore these people and their food like woah. Teresa and Zach have inspired and mentored me along this cray cray journey and I have no doubt that I’ll continue to learn from them both.
Back to the collaboration! From now until February 28th, both restaurants are serving plant-powered “superfood” menu items. Alchemy will have The FUSIAN Smoothie, featuring house-pressed orange juice, pineapple, banana, avocado, nori, ginger, and spirulina. It’s creamy, refreshing, and totally sushi inspired! I promise you won’t taste the seaweed.
At FUSIAN, you’ll find the Alchemy Superfood Roll. We wanted this roll to be colorful, original, super nutritious, and representative of who we are. It’s important to both restaurants to make eating healthfully more approachable and accessible, and I think this roll really speaks to that.
It’s made with pickled beets, sweet potato, roasted tofu, avocado, local micro kale, puffed quinoa, and dragonfruit sauce. It was so fun working with our lovely chef, Sarah Wilson, on this roll of all rolls. She developed the heavenly ginger dragonfruit sauce recipe and it couldn’t complement the roll any more perfectly!
And the puffed quinoa…can we talk about what a dreamy tempura substitute that is? Crunchy plant perfection.
The best part is that a dollar from every sale will go toward Local Matters’ health food education programming at Moler Elementary School down on the south side! Abed and I both taught nutrition education for kiddos with Local Matters back in college and Alchemy is just a few doors down from the Local Matters office; so this cause is really near and dear to our hearts.
This unique restaurant and non-profit partnership marks FUSIAN’s first Columbus based Collab, a series that offers exclusive menu items developed in partnership with local chefs to support the communities in which they operate.
Delish superfood smoothies and sushi for a cause…what could be more delicious than that? To all of my Columbus foodies, we’re giving away three free smoothies and sushi rolls over on Instagram today so be sure to head over there and enter.
To sushi, smoothies, and beyond!
