We all know I don’t blog two days in a row. I mean I’m way too unorganized for that.
But today is special. Why? Because I made a chocolate cherry green smoothie how-to YouTube video! Eeeeeeeeeeeee! Please ignore my awkward facial expression. I promise the video isn’t as awkward as I am.

I’ve been wanting to start a YouTube channel for a long time and I finally did it. Hallelujah! I think it really helps to actually watch some one make a recipe, so if you’ve never made a green smoothie before, this might be super helpful! I’ve been obsessed with this chocolate cherry green smoothie lately. Like I’ve literally made it for breakfast four days in a row. It’s a combination of frozen cherries (add it to the list of why I love Target), a big pile of greens, cocoa powder, almond milk and a bit of stevia to sweeten. It’s life changing to successfully make a delish smoothie sans the banana, but this smoothie really knocks my socks off. Sometimes I add my favorite Sun Warrior protein powder, sometimes I throw in some ground flax, and sometimes I toss in a couple frozen coffee cubes a la my favorite frap. Feel free to sweeten it with a bit of honey, agave or pure maple syrup if you don’t have any stevia.Print
- 1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
- 2 large handfuls of greens (spinach, kale, chard, etc.)
- 1 cup frozen cherries
- 1 heaping tbsp cocoa powder
- 1/2 scoop protein powder (I use Sun Warrior)
- 1 tbsp ground flaxseed
- 2 ice cubes
- stevia to taste (or honey)
- Add milk and greens to blender and blend until smooth.
- Add the rest of the ingredients and blend again until smooth. Sweeten to taste with honey or stevia.
Let me know what you think, because I’m totally down to make more recipe videos. Let me know what kind of stuff you guys would like to see!
In other news…
OMG. Have you heard Chipotle is now offering vegan tofu sofritas? They’re only offered in California night now because they all the cool foods first. It’s made from shredded organic tofu braised with chipotle chilis, roasted poblanos and a blend of spices. I’m sure it’ll be to die for like everything else they serve. I just love seeing more plant-based options popping up at restaurants. Chipotle is one of the only places I trust to get a quick, cheap and super healthy meal that’s not loaded with chemicals and yucky ingredients from God only knows where. Love you, Chip!
Random, but have you guys heard of Bestowed? It’s a a monthly food box subscription filled with healthy goodies that are hand picked by nutritionist Heather Bauer. I used this $5 off coupon to try out a box, and I totally loved it! Who doesn’t love getting packages in the mail, especially when you don’t know what’s in them! I adored the Uber bar, but I probably wouldn’t buy one on my own because it’s so high it sugar. I prefer the regular Larabras that are sweetened simply with dates. The cranberry super grains teechia cereal was fabulous as well, especially drenched in almond milk. It’s a perfect quick breakfast. These boxes are great because they force you to try fun new healthy products that you probably wouldn’t buy on your own. It’s a healthy foodie’s dream.
P.S. I just got the most beautiful chard at the garden. If your farmers market has any, you should totally consider stuffing it with spinach and artichoke tuna. Jus’ sayin.
